This dynamic surface is created using a specialized Western raku technique. The unglazed ceramic vessel is pulled from the kiln while glowing red-hot. Strands of horsehair and delicate feathers are immediately applied directly to the scorching surface. The organic materials instantly incinerate, leaving permanent, carbonized impressions seared into the clay.

• Technique: Horsehair and Feather Raku Firing.
• Surface Design: Features a striking contrast between two distinct carbon markings. The horsehair produces fine, wandering fractal lines and dark linear squiggles, while the feathers create dense, smoky bursts and soft, plume-like silhouette blooms.
• Form & Palette: A graceful, wheel-thrown ovoid silhouette tapering gently to a finished rim. The unglazed body features a cream-to-buff underlying tone with smoky, contrasting gray gradients.
• Dimensions: 7 1/2" Height x 4 1/4" Width
• Condition & Usage: Intended strictly as decorative fine art. Because raku firing remains porous, the body is not water-tight or food-safe without a functional liner.
